Midnight Sun
Season: Summer
The midnight sun is a natural phenomenon experienced north of the Arctic Circle, and in northern Norway it is an important part of summer. From late May to mid-July, the sun remains above the horizon all day, creating a magical atmosphere of eternal light. During this period, the sun never sets, but hovers low over the horizon at night, giving the landscape a warm, golden colour.

For locals, the midnight sun means long, bright days that invite outdoor activities, festivals, and social gatherings. Many Norwegians take the opportunity to go hiking, fishing, or simply enjoy the endless day.

For visitors, the midnight sun is a unique experience. There's something almost surreal about being able to sit on a beach or on top of a mountain in the middle of the night, with the sun still shining brightly in the sky.

The Northern Lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are one of nature's most spectacular phenomena. Northern lights occur when charged particles from the sun collide with gases in Earth's atmosphere. These collisions create light that appears as waves, arcs and rays in the night sky. The best time to see the Northern Lights in Norway is in winter when the nights are dark and long.

Bjerkvik is located in Nordland county north of the Arctic Circle. There are therefore opportunities to see the Northern Lights here if the conditions are right for it.
